Workshops

AI literacy workshops for LA schools.

For teachers and parent groups. A 90-minute evening for families, or a half-day on campus for staff.

The packages

Two ways to book

Both run in person in Los Angeles. Pick the group you're gathering, then request a date.

Package A

AI for Parents

90-minute evening session, in person at your school or community space.

$950

$750 when a PTA or booster club books and pays.

Who it's for

  • PTA, PTO, and booster groups looking for a parent education night
  • School administrators who want families and the school on the same page about AI

What you walk away with

  • A plain-language picture of what ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude do, and where they get things wrong
  • A feel for how students use AI for homework, and how to tell helpful use from shortcutting
  • Simple house rules and conversation starters to use at home this week
  • Privacy basics: what to share with an AI tool, what to keep out, and which settings to check
  • Questions you can take to your school about its AI policy

What's included

  • 90-minute live session with a demo on screen
  • Printed 1-page parent handout: a house rules template, conversation starters, and a privacy checklist
  • Open Q&A during the session
  • A follow-up resource sheet sent to the organizer within 2 business days, ready to forward to families

  3. 0:25-0:45How kids are using it: homework help, writing, research, and the gray areas
  4. 0:45-1:00Safety and privacy at home: accounts, age limits, settings, and what to keep private
  5. 1:00-1:15Family playbook: house rules, conversation starters, and using AI together as a learning tool

  • A projector or large screen with HDMI
  • Reliable Wi-Fi, or a wired connection, for the live demo

  • A working approach to academic integrity: assignments that still measure student thinking, and a way to talk with students about AI use
  • Student privacy and data basics, including what never goes into a public AI tool
  • A draft classroom AI policy you can adapt for a syllabus

What's included

  • Half-day live session with 2 hands-on labs

Hands-on work

  • Prompt makeover: take a weak prompt, rebuild it, and compare the outputs side by side
  • Bring your own lesson: adapt a real upcoming lesson for 3 reading levels
  • Spot the flaw: fact-check an AI-generated answer and list what it got wrong
  • Assignment stress test: run a current assignment through AI and redesign it so it still measures student thinking
  • Policy draft: each teacher leaves with a 1-page classroom AI norms draft
What we'll need from you
  • A room with tables so teachers can work in small groups
  • A projector or large screen with HDMI
  • Reliable Wi-Fi that allows common AI tools. Some district networks block them, so check with IT ahead of time
  • Teachers bring a laptop or tablet, charged
  • A list of any district-approved AI tools, so the labs can use them
  • Participant count 1 week before the session
